Global Urban Village is a capacity building consulting and seed investment company based in the United States with a focus on Southeast Asia. Founded in 2018 with a mission to empower entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds with the knowledge and capital to build successful businesses, we work to support entrepreneurs who contribute to social and environmental solutions with an emphasis on women-led businesses. We drive growth and investment through investment readiness support and matchmaking, financial, marketing, and strategy consulting, and our network of regional and international partners and collaborators.

Lisa Hanson, Co-founder

Lisa has a demonstrated track record of strategic design and implementation of marketing strategies, sales strategies, and operating models, as well as a knack for motivating teams toward a shared vision. Prior to founding Global Urban Village, she was a Senior Principal and Leader for multiple teams at Mercer, a global consulting firm (MMC). She set strategy, designed, hired, and directed multiple cross functional teams on national and international virtual platforms, and managed a $4M P&L, contributing to the growth of the $4.5B business across health, investment and talent management consulting practices, including global initiatives on gender equity and the future of work. In her current work she focuses on investment readiness support for entrepreneurs, marketing and strategy consulting, and impact investing brand advocacy. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Seattle University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Washington.

Ian Fishburn, Co-founder

Throughout his career in urban development, the focus of Ian’s work has been at the intersection of livability and entrepreneurship. Having built sustainably certified housing, led construction innovation startups, and managed institutional scale apartment projects, he is passionate about bringing positive impact to the world through market-based solutions. Prior to starting Global Urban Village, Ian managed a portfolio of apartment developments with an asset value of over $400 million for Lennar (NYSE: LEN), the largest home builder in the U.S. His experience in financial management, design, construction, sustainability, and innovation make him adept at evaluating and supporting entrepreneurial solutions to improving livability. He has a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics, from the University of California, Davis, and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
